YWCA Yonkers is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.

In light of the recent events that are happening in our country, members of the YWCA Yonkers decided to come together to share our thoughts on ways we are doing our part to help in the fight to end racism and empower our community.

What We Do ↘

YWCA Yonkers provides direct services, empowerment programming, and advocacy to support marginalized individuals and families, especially women and girls of color, while working to challenge structural barriers to equity.

  • A Week Without Violence

Week Without Violence is a vital part of a global movement led by YWCA chapters across the country and around the world. Its mission is to end violence against women and girls. At YWCA, we understand that not all violence receives equal acknowledgment or response. Some victims remain unrecognized and unheard. This is why, for over 20 years, YWCA has dedicated one week in October as a Week Without Violence. We must raise our voices and stand together to bring attention to this critical issue.

  • Until Justice Just Is

YWCA is committed to eliminating racism and empowering women. We understand that to truly empower all women, we must confront systemic racism. Our Until Justice Just Is campaign raises awareness about the effects of institutional and structural racism. Together, we can create lasting change.

Anti Racism Advocacy↘

YWCA Yonkers is passionately committed to uniting voices in the fight against systemic racism, recognizing that education plays a vital role in illuminating the injustices experienced by people of color. By harnessing the power of accessible video media, we strive to educate and inform our community about the realities of racism and the systemic barriers that perpetuate inequality. Our dedication to this cause fuels our efforts to raise awareness and initiate meaningful discussions that can lead to change. Together, we can advocate for a more just and equitable future, ensuring that everyone's voice is heard and valued in the ongoing struggle for civil rights and social justice.

Thank you to our media partner, "Shefik presents Invocation," for his participation. Our Board President, Angela Adetola, discusses how education plays a role in eradicating racism.

Stand Against Racism Movie and Panel

We were proud to host two panel discussions after viewing the film I Am Not a Racist, Am I? After the film, we asked two of our panelist, Pastor Hassell and Haifa Bint-Kadi to share their views on the film and how racism impacts young people when confronted with it. Hear what our experts have to say in our YWCA Yonkers Post Show Convo.
